Frequently Asked Questions
Start with how the planning experience works, what it can compare, and where official SSA confirmation still matters.
Does the software show a break even illustration?
Yes, it does! Social Security GPS features a detailed break-even analysis to help you understand the long-term financial implications of different claiming strategies. This tool illustrates at what age you would begin to benefit more from claiming your Social Security. It's a great way to visually compare your options and make an informed decision that best suits your financial goals and retirement plans.
Why use your software when Social Security has free calculators?
There are so many free calculators out there, choosing one is half the battle. Not to mention, most calculators only give you the basics and miss out on important factors like inflation and wage growth.
That's where we come in. We account for all the possible filing strategies, major benefits, and all major rules and provisions. When you choose Social Security GPS, you can feel confident you’ll get the most out of benefits over a lifetime.
Can I enter different what-if scenarios in order to compare the results?
Yes, you can input any number of what-if scenarios with different choice combinations and run them through our highly developed and accurate comprehensive sequence of calculations. You can download and save each report you run.
Does the software calculate earnings/income limitations for filing?
Yes, Social Security GPS includes calculations for earnings and income limitations if you're considering filing for Social Security benefits before reaching your full retirement age. Our software automatically factors in the earnings test to show how your benefits might be reduced due to your income. This feature ensures you can plan accurately, understanding the impact of continued work on your benefits, helping you make the best decision for your situation.
Does the software account for the Government Pension Offset and the Windfall Elimination Provision?
The Social Security Fairness Act repealed the Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset. SSA states that WEP and GPO no longer apply to benefits payable for January 2024 and later; December 2023 was the last month they could apply. Older reports should be updated before use.
Do you automatically renew my subscription?
Explorer and Voyager are presented as monthly subscriptions that continue until canceled under the subscription terms provided at enrollment. There is no checkout on this marketing site; billing details and renewal terms are confirmed before access is activated.
Can others in my financial planning office use this software?
Explorer and Voyager are designed around advisor access with unlimited client records. User access, firm permissions, and onboarding are confirmed when access is requested so each person's responsibilities and data access are clear.
Is there a free trial?
The current offer includes a 14-day free trial for Explorer and Voyager. Request access and we will confirm the plan, trial start, and onboarding details before anything begins.
How should I handle sensitive information?
Do not send a Social Security number, financial-account number, or detailed personal financial record through the public contact or updates forms. Product access and its data-handling practices are addressed separately during onboarding. Ask for current security and privacy documentation before entering client information.
Have a question about your own eligibility or benefit amount? Contact the Social Security Administration. Social Security GPS cannot make an official determination.
